Hello my name is Joey Cepeda and this page is for you to learn more about me and the certifications/ qualifications that I have.

First of all lets analyze who you are and how you ended up here today reading my web page. I can assume one of the following describes who you are:

  • We met and you informed me that you had DSL or Road Runner service. I mentioned to you solutions and services that I do such as wireless networks, web design, internet video surveillance, computer networking, anti-hacking security analysis, etc, etc and I gave you a business card.
  • You are someone who visited one of my clients web sites that I have designed and you clicked on my link. Or perhaps you know someone whom I made a web site for and that person told you to contact me if you wanted a web design. If not a web site, maybe you are someone who has a friend or relative whom I did some work for such as a wireless network or computer repair, etc, etc and they referred you to me since I left them satisfied with my services.
  • You are a web surfer and you did a search on google, yahoo or any other search engine and you found my web site's link.

"Now lets get to know who I am"

As you already know my name is Joey Cepeda. Currently, I am a freelance Information Technology consultant that specializes in a variety of technologies. However, my main focus is on trying to help homes/ businesses find more value in their Road Runner or DSL connections. However, my web site in no way represents the services that Time Warner or DSL provides. My site is about all the services and solutions that I can offer you that can complement the High Speed Internet connection that you receive either from Road Runner or DSL. Instead of you being limited to using your High Speed connection on just one computer, I will help you get more value out of your Time Warner or DSL connection by enabling you to use it on multiple computers. If you came to my site today to learn about any of my services, you will find detailed information of each service I provide. There are some web sites or companies that just briefly explain their services. However the way I view things is I rather provide too much information instead of NOT enough information. This makes you a well informed customer.

"My Experience and Certifications"

As of 2009, I have 10 years of strong Information Technology experience. Most of my early experience took place while I was in Dallas 1999-2002. During my time in Dallas, I took on many projects which enabled me to see a variety of scenarios of how organizations and businesses were utilizing Information Technology, to help with their business needs. Past companies that I have worked for ranged from "Application Service Providers" (www.ciber.com, www.agilera.com www.ascendantsolutions.com) to outsource network technical support call centers (www.stream.com).
Application Service Providers are companies that help small-medium sized businesses by hosting their IT infrastructure for them. For example, lets say YOU own a company that is made of up a sales force that is constantly mobile, and you do not want to invest in hiring full time IT employees to maintain your servers and data. So what you do is contact an ASP to find out what hosting solutions they offer such as email, database, or any other type of servers. That is what an ASP is and I worked with a few companies that provided hosting solutions for other businesses.

In May 2002 I was laid off from the company I was working for due to the fact that most of our clients were going out of business, since many of them were affected by the 911 Terrorist Attacks. Many people ask why I came back to the Valley, so the next sentences should answer that for you. In September 2002 the opportunity came up where I was able to move back down to my hometown (The Valley- RGV). Being in Dallas was fun and full of excitement but the drawback was I became out of touch from family and relatives. For family purposes I wanted to be close to my younger sisters and be able to attend more family events, (parties, get together's, anniversaries, etc) so I have enjoyed moving back to the Rio Grande Valley (Edinburg, McAllen, Harlingen, Brownsville, etc, etc.).

"My Information Technology Certifications"

Not only do I have the experience, I also went the extra mile and have certified my skills with Information Technology based exams. By doing this, I have deemed myself as a recognized IT professional with companies such as CompTIA, Microsoft, and Cisco Systems. I take pride with the certifications I have acquired due to the fact that some computer technicians find it hard to pass some of these exams or do not even attempt to take them. Taking these certification exams illustrates my maturity and dedication to Information Technology.

You might have already hired or may meet some computer technicians whom say that you don't need a certification to know computers, and to some extent that is true. However these exams test your knowledge on a variety of objectives. Mastering those objectives help me understand all issues and problems that my potential customers may have. Non-certified computer technicians may know how to fix common problems, but what if you have an uncommon issue?  I have seen it time and time again where a customer tells me that their computer guy has been trying to fix this certain problem for days, and when I show up on site I fix it within a few minutes. I currently am certified with 6 high in demand certifications. If you hire me to help with a project that you have or if you wanted one of my services that I offer, I can provide photo copies of my certifications upon request. To learn more about them just click the associated certification logo.

CCNA "Cisco Certified Network Associate" from Cisco Systems. I have mastered all the objectives to help clients configure routers, switches, and other networking hardware to work on their existing LAN or WAN. I can take a look at existing configuration files and determine if there is a potential problem. I am fluent in almost any network vendor since all networking hardware is dependant on the same TCP/IP standards.

CCDA "Cisco Certified Design Associate" from Cisco Systems. I have mastered all the objectives needed to help clients who do not have an existing network in place. I can analyze a business and their application's requirements and then determine the type of network infrastructure that is needed. Able to troubleshoot congested networks and analyze an application's network traffic patterns to understand future scalable growth needs. Familiar with variety of network analyzers and sniffers that will help me understand the traffic and protocols that your application is using on a network.

I have mastered and passed the objectives needed to become A+ certified. I am capable of analyzing a computer and determining what is causing problems on it, whether it be hardware or software related (basic-intermediate issues). Upgrading computers, replacement of bad parts, operating system restoration with saved personal data, and other techniques are what I learned preparing for this exam.

I have mastered and passed the objectives needed to become Network+ certified. Whether a company is utilizing Microsoft Windows 95, NT, 98, Me, 2000, XP, I can bring these workstations online to perform on a network (TCP/IP or NetBios). I am able to configure a computer running Unix/Linux/Solaris with the TCP/IP parameters that it needs. Running data cable and understanding the standards, and specifications is also another strength that I have.

I have also obtained the I-Net + certification from CompTIA. This certification measured and assessed my knowledge on internet related technologies. I mastered all the fundamentals of web design, email client-server technology, internet security, proxies, firewall's, and anti-virus solutions. I know how to sit down and talk with customers to raise user awareness when it comes to privacy, viruses, hacking/cracking, spyware, and malware issues.
